Embark on a superb walking journey around the Italian lakes, made even more captivating by being able to reach landscapes that can only be found on foot. This picturesque region, blessed with a perfect climate for hiking, has become adorned with numerous villas and splendid botanical gardens. Since Roman times, Como has been a favoured holiday destination for the rich and famous, who were enamoured by its lavish villas and magnificent gardens.
We’ve tailored this trip with your flexibility in mind, offering a selection of five walks, along with visits to must-see villa gardens such as Villa Carlotta, Villa Balbaniello, Villa Melzi, and Villa Monastero. Your walks will allow you to leisurely explore the area, whether cruising across the lake with panoramic views or meandering through orchards and olive groves, all at your own pace. Each evening, you’ll retreat to the charming and picturesque village of Lenno, nestled beautifully along the lakeshore.
The 4-star and standard accommodation has been handpicked to reflect the character and history of the region. During this tour, you will spend each night in excellent double occupancy rooms with private facilities. Chosen for its location on the promenade, facilities and history, our accommodation is used to welcoming our walkers. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the region and they will always be happy to chat with you about the history, food and wine. Of course, you can always call us too should you need anything during your walk.
You will be provided with 6 daily breakfasts after each of the nights’ stay. It is best to do your own thing in Lake Como for lunch and dinner: lunches are available at various cafes or food stores daily, and there are numerous places to get dinner each night so you can choose whatever takes your fancy – your hosts will be happy to give you a list of recommendations. If you have any food allergies or intolerances please let us know at the time of booking so we can let your hosts know. Should you have severe food allergies, it’s always worth bringing a few of your own snacks with you.
Please note that the accommodations in Italy are not International standard at all. A 3-star hotel in Italy will often correspond to a 2-star international hotel. All B&B’s (standard accommodation) are very simple, some are more charming, with different room offerings at different prices. Most hotels (except 4-star) do NOT have air-conditioning.

Travelling to the Start of the walk

By plane: There are regular flights to Milan from different countries around Europe. There are many airlines that fly these routes. Below are possible websites that provide a number of different carriers to choose from.

From March the temperature begins to rise so be prepared for warmer days if you walk in summer. Shoulder season is by far the best time as the weather is perfect for walking and the added advantage of having fewer people around in the villages and on the coast (we walk away from the populated areas on the walk so crowds are not an issue.)
See the weather information about average temperatures and rainfall at different times of the year.
For nearly 30 years we have taken pride in providing seamlessly organised walking holidays, but we know, even with that in mind, that you’ll have many more questions. You will receive a very detailed information pack and itinerary approximately 6 weeks out from departure outlining all the fine detail and much more.
We require that you have adequate travel insurance against potential losses, damage or injury, including cancellation costs and loss of luggage.
For all trips that require international travel, you must have purchased travel insurance that also includes medical evacuation coverage.
We also charge a cancellation fee if you cancel your walking holiday after we have confirmed it to cover costs incurred from our suppliers and in the office. See the FAQ section for more information.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask one of our destination consultants. You can get in touch with us via our contact form, email us at info@stroll.com, or call us on +44 808 304 8701.
