The full Via Francigena route begins in the Rhineland and traverses the Alps and the valley of Aosta, south through Piedmont, via Tuscany and onto Rome. On this trip, we will walk the section from Lucca to Siena through Tuscany, one of the most enchanting sections of this 3000km 100-day plus walk.
The Way to Rome, the Via Francigena, is the pilgrimage to the ‘eternal city’. It is a symbol of devotion but also one of unity, bringing people together for over 1000 years. Over history, the ancient Via Francigena has been walked by sovereigns, emperors, clergy and commoners alike.
Immerse yourself in the charm of iconic Tuscan towns and hilltop villages whilst being captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the Val d’Elsa region.
During this tour, you will spend each night in small family-run boutique B&B’s or 3-star hotels in the larger towns. Chosen for their location, facilities and history, each accommodation is used to welcoming walkers. Accommodations equivalent to the below will be provided should there not be availability.
You will be provided with 7 breakfasts and 1 dinner. Lunches are available at various cafes or traditional Tuscan food stores daily.
