Kathleen and Dave were wonderfully flexible in responding to the weather and our needs and in devising multiple routes to cater for different abilities.
Access the heart of the Australian Outback and hike the ancient sun-seared landscape of the remote Flinders Ranges. The Flinder’s fascinating geology and red ochre vistas make for unforgettable walking that’ll take your breath away.
On the gentler side, walk Wilpena Pound floor encircled by a one-of-a-kind colossal natural amphitheatre. In other valleys, native cypress pines cover gently rounded hills and massive creek beds studded with majestic river red gums. We take care of every last detail so you can relax and fully experience this ancient landscape that once stood taller than the Himalayas.
In Melrose (southern Flinders Ranges) you’ll spend a night in the historic Star Hotel. The rooms are ensuite, hotel-style rooms, as well as a couple of converted trucks that are an experience in themselves.
For the remaining five nights we’ll base ourselves at Rawnsley Park Station, near Wilpena Pound. At this outback accommodation, we’ll stay in studio-style motel rooms with ensuites and enjoy campfires and star gazing at night.
Dinners will be prepared by the professional chefs at the Woolshed at Rawnsley including the camp BBQ dinner. Every day we will wake to a cooked breakfast in the restaurant to ready ourselves for the upcoming day’s walk. The packed lunches complete the circle ensuring that your appetite is always satisfied. In fact, you can look forward to having lunch on a daily basis at some of the most incredible locations that this country has to offer.
Some tracks are rough and rocky; on these hikes we’ll cover shorter distances. Full-day walks average 13-18 km. There are great opportunities for fit walkers to challenge themselves as there are rugged peaks to climb and remote gorges to explore. This trip operates with two experienced and knowledgeable, fun-loving guides so we can offer easier and more challenging walk options along the way.
You’ll enjoy dining at the Woolshed Restaurant – they also have an exclusive range of boutique wines to try. Alcohol or drinks with meals are not included (except tea/coffee and juice with breakfast).
Pre and post-tour accommodation: There are many hotels in Adelaide. We pick up from and drop off at the Terrace Hotel, 208 South Terrace, Adelaide. The tour starts at 8.30 at the Terrace Hotel. We arrive in Adelaide by around 5.00 pm on the last day.

The scenery was beautiful and the diversity of the walks made each day different which was great. Including a visit to a wombat rescue place, winery and museum added to the experience. Eating at local places was a great idea – good for the local economy – and GREAT for the walkers as the food was exceptional. My Flinders Island experience was filled with great walking, exceptional food and interesting experiences. Thanks to our outstanding guides (David and Kathleen).

David & Kathleen once again fabulous guides, very caring & competent. I guess living on the island , knowing it so well.

Delightful guides, beautiful scenery, great food. We were pleased to meet up with David and Kathleen again. They were understanding, flexible and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the Flinder’s Is experience. Liked the way they provided two options for the walks. My husband managed the more challenging routes and I took the shorter options.

We have travelled with Stroll twice – once on a guided walk in the Flinders Range and the second a self guided walk in the Victoria Alps. Both were excellent – well planned, great walking notes, comfortable accommodation and good meals. On the guided walks the guides were knowledgable of the local area – history and environment – and managed the group well. The walks varied from easy to quite challenging and this was clearly explained by the guides and in the notes. There were no surprises when it came to where we were going and what to expect. The Stroll staff are excellent – they were able to rearrange our self guided walk to take into account some changes to our circumstances. We will certainly use Stroll again.

I enjoyed a fabulous walking tour in the Flinders Ranges with Stroll. Encouraging, interesting, competent guides, and plenty of flexibility with the walks that kept everyone participating. Wonderful countryside. Lovely accommodation and scrumptious food.

This was our second Stroll, this time to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. It was a great experience – the walking was interesting, and with more than one guide, it’s good that they can sometimes offer harder and easier options. Comfortable accommodation, and great meals – you’ll never go hungry.
