ACCOMMODATION & DINING

Each night you will be accommodated at the very comfortable purpose built Mangama Western Eco Campsite within the Tjoritja – West MacDonnell Ranges National Park located on the Larapinta Trail in the Rodna land trust. You will still get to enjoy all the creature comforts of clean toilets and hot showers (with a view) along with thoughtfully prepared meals.

At the end of each day, you will return to the same campsite to your private tent, a hot shower and a camp cooked meal. The breathtaking location of the campsite reflects the region’s character and allows you to be as close to nature as possible, offering up great views and sunsets like no other over the West MacDonnell Ranges.

All of the two-course dinners are prepared by the onsite cook at the camp. There’s an emphasis on Australian produce and indigenous ingredients. Western style food will be available each night for those who are not wanting to try Australian game meats. All dinners are thoughtfully prepared to include the freshest produce available with enough protein and carbs to keep you fueled for your walking days on the trail.

There are multiple private toilets and showers on site which are cleaned multiple times a day. Please note toilets and showers are unisex.

The breakfasts each morning and the packed lunches will ensure that your appetite is always satisfied. You can look forward to enjoying your lunch at an incredible location along the Larapinta Trail. Your walker’s lunch will include a high protein type salad, wrap, muesli bar, fruit and other snacks.

Please note this is an alcohol free trip. No alcohol will be provided and no alcohol will be available for purchase. We kindly ask that you do not bring any alcohol with you out of respect to the traditional land owners.

GENERAL INFO

The Larapinta Trail tracks are dry and firm but often rocky underfoot. Most of the walks are easy to moderate. The more leisurely walks are great for first-timers – but you will still need a reasonable level of fitness. However, the walk often involves challenging walking of between 4 to 9 hours each day across rocky terrain and ridgelines with steep inclines, so experienced hikers won’t be disappointed. Please be advised that it may be warm this time of year and that you will need to carry at least 2 litres of water with you each day.

This trip operates with two experienced and knowledgeable guides so we can offer easier and harder walk options along the way.

Pre and post-tour accommodation: There are many good hotels in Alice Springs. However, we pick up and drop off at the Mercure, Alice Springs. The tour starts at the Mercure at 8.30 am and includes the final night at the Mercure on return.

For what to bring, please refer to Gear Advice on our FAQ section.
