The peninsula’s combination of towering pink-hued granite mountains, pristine isolated white beaches and gorgeous bays make this a fabulous three-day walking adventure. This short walk has been designed so each day includes the very best of the scenery and diverse landscape the national park has to offer.

ITINERARY
DAY one
Private Transfer from Launceston and Hazards Walk
You start the day with a private transfer at 8 am from your hotel or airport in Launceston. Today you will get your feet firmly planted on the ground with a trek via Wineglass Bay, the Hazards and Hazards Beach. The 8 am pick up time is somewhat flexible in the hotter months when there’s more sunlight (9 am would be the latest).
This track is well-formed and nicely graded with steps up to the lookout, which takes about 40 minutes. This walk to the lookout and return is the main walk completed by most of the day-trippers. You will veer away from the day-trippers with a long set of steps going down from the lookout to Wineglass Bay. From here on you will have the track largely to yourself. The track is generally flat from Wineglass Bay onwards, as you follow the Isthmus Track around the mountain via Hazards Beach back to your accommodation. On this day there’s an opportunity to get your feet wet or take a swim.
Walks: Moderate/ 14 kms / 5-6 hrs
Meals: Walkers’ lunch and chef-prepared 2-course dinner
Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge in ensuited rooms
DAY two
Boat Transfer to Cooks Beach and Mount Freycinet
Very few people who visit Freycinet attempt this walk. It normally takes 2 days and involves free camping overnight. However, with a delightful boat trip both ways, you can wake up in the morning in your comfy bed and walk and return to your comfy digs in the evening. There’s also the added bonus of viewing the Peninsula from the sea. The boat trip can be dependent on the weather.
The walk begins on the coast by heading west from Cooks Beach. The hike initially makes its way via a gently sloped track that quickly becomes progressively steeper. The last part of the walk includes a small rock scramble toward the summit, an elevation of 620 m. The views from Mount Freycinet are the best on the Peninsula. An easier option is also available that avoids rock scrambling.
Walks: Moderate/ 12 or 14 kms / 6-7hrs
Meals: Chef-prepared cooked breakfast and walkers’ lunch
Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge in ensuited rooms
DAY three
Mount Amos
The Mount Amos hike offers unparalleled views of Wineglass Bay, but it does involve a little rock scrambling at the end. The hike is not long, but it is demanding as the rock face sections are steep. This walk suits the more adventurous walkers.
The walk can take up to 3.5hours, plus an hour or so at the summit to enjoy the views over Wineglass Bay and the Tasmanian coastline
Walks: Moderate to challenging / 4 -7 km / 3-4 hrs
Meals: Chef-prepared cooked breakfast and walkers’ lunch

On this walk, we stay two nights at the fabulous Freycinet Lodge in rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Some rooms have the added bonus of shared lounge rooms.
It is said that time stands still and all your worries evaporate from the moment you arrive Freycinet Lodge on the Peninsula. The Lodge overlooks the blue waters of Great Oyster Bay and has the beautiful Hazards mountain range as your backdrop. The location of Freycinet Lodge’s accommodation within Freycinet National Park ensures that your wilderness experience does not end with each days’ walk.
Each day you’ll be provided with a substantial walkers lunch. This may include a high protein type salad, a roll or a wrap, a muesli bar, cake or muffin and a piece of fruit. Most importantly each day you’ll get the opportunity to have your lunch on the track at a fabulous location on the Freycinet Peninsula. How special is that!
The dinners at Freycinet Lodge and breakfasts are all prepared by their in house chefs taken in the comfort of their outstanding restaurant.

The walk starts in Launceston at 8:00 am and finishes in Launceston late afternoon around 5:00 pm. We have graded the walking on this trip as easy to moderate depending on the walking options you choose. We have given you walking options so you can make this trip fit your walking ability. On Freycinet, there are some steep sections but overall the walking is easy to moderate.
Please note that the boat trip is weather dependent and on rare occasions when the sea is too rough to depart, we offer another walk to replace the Mount Freycinet walk.
Pre and post-tour accommodation: There are many good hotels in Launceston, however, we often use the Quality Hotel Colonial for our guides on guided trips when we need to stay in Launceston. The trip ends at approximately 5:00 pm on the last day in Launceston; we can also drop you off at Launceston airport.

The walk starts in Launceston at 8:00 am and finishes in Launceston late afternoon around 5:00 pm. We provide a private transfer in a limousine to and from Launceston (for larger groups the vehicle type may vary).
WEATHER
See the Bureau of Meteorology for information about temperatures and rainfall ahead of time to ensure proper clothing.
Spring and autumn are perfect times to walk on the Freycinet Peninsula. Summer can be a little warmer, however, the average temperature is only 18 degrees. Winter is often written off as a time not to visit Tasmania, let alone walk because of the rain. However, if you look at the mean average rainfall it isn’t that much more than in summer. The average temperature in winter does however fall to 11 degrees so come prepared with warm clothes and good rain gear (realistically year-round). INSURANCE
We require that you have adequate travel insurance against potential losses, damage or injury, including cancellation costs and loss of luggage.
For all trips that require international travel, you must have purchased travel insurance that also includes medical evacuation coverage.
