Cappadocia is undeniably epic, and its allure stems from a captivating blend of natural wonders and rich history. This unique region in central Turkey is a geological masterpiece, characterized by its surreal landscapes of fairy chimneys, whimsical rock formations, and underground cities. The epic scenery creates an otherworldly backdrop that feels straight out of a fantasy novel.
It’s a land with a history as deep as the underground cities it shelters. Carved into the soft volcanic rock, ancient civilizations created hidden refuges and cave dwellings, preserving their stories and secrets for millennia. The Göreme Open-Air Museum boasts a treasure trove of Byzantine frescoes, depicting a rich tapestry of history and faith.?
All the accommodations on this walk are good quality small family-run cave hotels, guesthouses or hotels. They are typical of the region and well off the tourist routes.
Some of the lodgings have in-house dining/restaurants. What’s most important is that you will receive a warm welcome and get to enjoy the Turkish hospitality that out-of-the-city regions are famous for. The accommodation locations are beautiful and are also in more remote parts of Cappadocia and less frequented.
A set menu is provided when dinner is offered in-house at your accommodation.
This trip is available April to November. However generally, it can get hot in Cappadocia in summer ( starting early will avoid the heat) and very cold in winter. Autumn and spring remain the best times to walk.
