OverviewOverview
This walk takes in the most dramatic sections of the West Highland Way, the UK's most popular long-distance trail. From the remote Bridge of Orchy Hotel, the route ventures across Rannoch Moor, one of Europe's last true wilderness expanses, before ascending into the rugged Scottish Highlands.
The trail passes Buachaille Etive Mor, one of Scotland's most photographed Munro peaks, and climbs the Devil's Staircase to Kinlochleven. Following centuries-old military tracks, the route continues to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain. Four-star accommodation at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel and the welcoming Kingshouse Hotel, renowned for their fine single malts, add a touch of comfort throughout.

Where You'll Stay
Walking the Highland section of the West Highland Way means staying in some of the route's most celebrated properties. Four nights are spent in three and four-star hotels and guesthouses, all chosen for their position along the way. The hotels in Bridge of Orchy and the Kingshouse are particular highlights, having looked after walkers on this route for decades. Hosts are knowledgeable and always happy to help, and the team is on hand throughout the walk. Alternative accommodation of equivalent standard may occasionally be required in more remote settings and any changes will always be discussed with you beforehand. Booking early is strongly recommended given the remote location of some properties.
Single Rooms
The West Highland Way is one of Scotland's busiest walking routes and rooms fill up fast. If you are travelling with family or friends and would like single rooms, booking as soon as your plans are finalised is strongly advised.
What You'll Eat
A proper Scottish breakfast is one of the better ways to begin a day in the Highlands, and four are included throughout this walk, one each morning before heading out on the trail. Lunch and dinner are yours to find, and the hotels and pubs along this section of the West Highland Way are well worth exploring at the end of each walking day.
Note: Please advise us of any food allergies or intolerances at the time of booking. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended, as specialist ingredients can be harder to source in more remote parts of this walk.
