OverviewOverview
Scotland's most popular long-distance trail, the West Highland Way covers 153 kilometres of some of the finest walking in Europe. This 11-day self-guided walk sets a comfortable pace from the lowlands through spectacular mountain landscapes, with friendly Scottish hospitality waiting at the end of each day.
Forest trails lead from the start to the eastern shores of Loch Lomond, before the route pushes north along old drover's roads and ancient military tracks across Rannoch Moor, one of Europe's last great wilderness areas. The famous Kingshouse Hotel offers a welcome stop with views across to Buachaille Etive Mor, Scotland's most photographed mountain. From there, the Devil's Staircase climbs to Kinlochleven before the trail finishes in the lively highland town of Fort William.

Where You'll Stay
During this walk, ten nights are spent in three-star hotels and guesthouses, with the occasional four-star property along the way, each one chosen for its location on the West Highland Way. A particular highlight is the Kingshouse Hotel, a property that has been welcoming walkers for decades and carries the kind of history that suits a walk of this calibre. Hosts throughout are knowledgeable about the region and happy to help with any questions during the walk. The team is also reachable should you need anything along the way.
As many overnight stops are in remote settings, alternative accommodation of equivalent standard may occasionally be necessary and any such options will be discussed with you during the booking process. Given how busy accommodation on this route gets, booking as early as possible once your travel dates are confirmed is strongly recommended.
Single Rooms
If you are travelling with friends or family but would prefer your own room, please let us know at the time of booking. Single rooms can be arranged for an additional payment.
What You'll Eat
Ten breakfasts are included throughout this walk, one each morning to fuel the miles ahead on the West Highland Way. Beyond that, lunch and dinner are yours to find, and the towns and villages along the route have no shortage of good options at every stop.
Note: Please advise us of any food allergies or intolerances at the time of booking. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended, as specialist ingredients can be harder to source in more remote parts of this walk.
