Overview

Just an hour from the Gold Coast lies one of Australia's most extraordinary walking destinations. The Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk threads through the world's largest protected area of subtropical rainforest, home to towering Strangler Figs, ancient Antarctic Beech trees and cascading waterfalls at almost every turn. The trail follows the rim of an ancient volcano across the Lamington plateau before descending into the Numinbah Valley and climbing to the Springbrook plateau. Each night ends at a characterful rainforest retreat.
