Overview

The Great Ocean Walk is Australia's premier coastal walking trail, and one of the most varied and dramatic long-distance walks in the country. From Apollo Bay, the track weaves through towering Mountain Ash forests and passes koalas dozing in Manna gums before emerging onto windswept clifftops with the full force of the Southern Ocean below. The scenery builds day by day, from quiet beaches and lush Otway rainforest to the wild Shipwreck Coast. Walkers carry only a daypack while bags are transferred between comfortable accommodations each day.
