Introduction to the Kunisaki Peninsula

We start our tour in Oita City before embarking on a journey to the Kunisaki Peninsula. First, we'll visit the revered Usa Jingu Shrine, the head shrine of over 40,000 Hachiman shrines across Japan. Here, you'll gain insight into the peninsula's spiritual significance. A gentle walk along the tranquil forest path behind the shrine allows you to attune to the serene landscapes ahead. After a nourishing lunch, explore the awe-inspiring Kumano Magaibutsu, stone Buddhas carved into sheer rock faces, before visiting Makiodo Temple, a key site in the Rokugo Manzan tradition.
