Overview
Discover the hidden heart of the French Riviera on this walk through one of Europe's most captivating and least-visited landscapes. Behind the glitz of the coast, ancient paths wind through lush Provençal valleys and past villages perched dramatically on rocky cliffs, connecting timeless stone hamlets, olive groves and lavender fields in a landscape that feels centuries removed from the world below. The walk begins in the ancient town of Sospel, with its distinct Italian character, and makes its way through to the magnificent town of Menton on the French Riviera, with a brief and memorable foray into Italy along the way. Panoramic ocean views, cobbled streets and extraordinary hilltop architecture make every day a revelation.
Note: The five-day option follows the same itinerary, with the exception of an additional night in St Agnès and the Cime de Baudon walk.

Itinerary
Day 1
Please make your own way by train from Nice to Sospel. Your accommodation is centrally located in Sospel. This is an ancient town with tall buildings and narrow streets. The stunning ancient footbridge from the 12th century separates the two halves of the town. The heart of the old town of Sospel opens out into a wide sunny square dominated by the colourful facade of the Saint-Michel cathedral. The beautiful Saint Michael Cathedral is in fact the centrepiece of the town. It was built mostly in the 14th Century, however, the bell tower is thought to be from the 11th century. Sospel is far from the bustle of the coastline and surrounded by lush mountains and in a place where time is at a standstill. Walking: No scheduled walking for today

Where You'll Stay
Nights are spent in handpicked three-star guesthouses, charming small hotels and family-run auberges, each chosen for their character, location and connection to the region. The accommodation reflects the warmth and history of Provençal village life at every stop. Occasional substitutions of equivalent quality may be made depending on availability — always communicated in advance.
What You'll Eat
Five continental Provençal breakfasts, three picnic lunches and two three-course à la carte dinners are included throughout the walk. On evenings where dinner is not included, your walk notes contain a handpicked dossier of local restaurant recommendations — the places where locals actually eat. The region is world-renowned for its food and wine, and we strongly recommend adding a day or two at the end to savour it properly.
Note: Drinks and alcohol are not included with meals, with the exception of tea, coffee and juice served with breakfast.
