Where You'll Stay

During this tour, accommodation is in three-star hotels that reflect the warmth and character of coastal Brittany. The tour opens in Paimpol, where a well-appointed hotel with modern amenities provides the first base, before moving on to Tréguier, where the hotel offers views across the traditional Breton townscape. All properties are comfortable and well suited to walkers.

What You'll Eat

Each of the five mornings begins with a sumptuous breakfast, included throughout the trip and featuring local ingredients. The coastal towns along the Goelo Coast are well worth exploring at mealtimes, with local restaurants serving fresh seafood and regional specialities that reflect the best of Breton food culture.

Note: Please advise us of any food allergies or intolerances at the time of booking. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended, as specialist ingredients can be harder to source along the way.

More About This Trip

The walk starts in Paimpol and finishes in Tréguier, on the Brittany coast of northwest France. The most convenient entry point is Paris, from where high-speed trains reach Guingamp in around 3 to 4 hours, with a local TER connection onward to Paimpol taking around 45 minutes. Rennes Airport (RNS) is a closer alternative, though with more limited international connections. Transfers to your hotel from Guingamp, Saint-Brieuc, or Lannion can be arranged on request. Book French rail tickets in advance through SNCF.

The walk ends in Tréguier. A transfer back to Paimpol train station is included on the final day, from where onward connections to Guingamp and Paris are straightforward.

This walk is available from 1 April to 5 November, with no fixed start days. Spring and early autumn are the finest times to walk the Goëlo Coast. April and May bring gorse and wildflowers to the clifftops, mild temperatures and quiet paths. July to September offers the most settled weather on this stretch of the Côtes d'Armor coast, with sunny days well-suited to the clifftop walking. July and August are warm and lively, though early booking is advisable in the coastal towns.

Early September is particularly rewarding, with the summer visitors gone, attractions still open and the weather often mild and sunny. October brings a wilder, more atmospheric quality to the cliffs and coves, with quieter paths through to the close of the season. Pack a waterproof whatever the month. This is the Atlantic coast of Brittany.

This walk is graded easy. Daily walks average 14 kilometres with around 139 metres of ascent and descent, and a terrain difficulty rating of 2 out of 10. The terrain is predominantly flat and straightforward underfoot. Comfortable, supportive footwear is recommended. Distance and elevation demands are both modest, so regular walks to build cardiovascular fitness, with some light resistance training, is sufficient preparation. Daily walk notes, maps, and GPX tracks are provided.

Travel insurance is required for all Stroll walking holidays, covering cancellation costs, loss of luggage and injury. For international trips, your policy must also include medical evacuation coverage. A cancellation fee applies if you cancel after your holiday has been confirmed.

A detailed information pack and itinerary will be sent to you around six weeks before departure, covering everything you need to know for a seamless experience. In the meantime, our team is always on hand to answer any questions.

Please check the tide schedule every day before setting off. Tides are an important factor to consider before each hike to ensure safety and avoid the risk of being trapped by rapidly rising water, especially in areas with a high tidal range (significant difference between high and low tide). Some parts of the hike may not be accessible at high tide, and you will need to take the detour route indicated in the route notes.

To check the tide: www.maree.info and select Paimpol & Perros Guirec

PM = High tide

BM = Low tide

Frequently Asked Questions

The Brittany walks start in either Paimpol or Perros Guirec, depending on your chosen itinerary. The closest major airport is Paris, which has high-speed train connections to the region, taking around 3 to 4 hours. From there, a local train gets you to the start of the walk. Rennes Airport is also an option if you can find a suitable connection, though international flights there are limited.

Your main luggage travels between accommodations each day while you walk with just a daypack. Leave your bag at reception each morning and it will be waiting at your next stop by the time you arrive. Luggage transfers are included across all three Brittany itineraries.

You'll stay in comfortable 3-star hotels throughout, all chosen for their local character and coastal atmosphere. Rooms have private ensuite facilities and each morning starts with a breakfast of local produce. Brittany has a strong food culture, and even the smaller towns along the route have excellent restaurants and cafes to explore in the evenings.

Breakfast is included every day. Lunch and dinner are your own to organise, which is genuinely one of the pleasures of walking this part of France. Fresh seafood straight off the boats, savoury buckwheat crêpes, locally made cider, and salted butter caramel are all part of the Breton table — don't hold back.

Availability varies by itinerary. The Pink Granite Coast walk runs almost year-round, from early January to mid-December. The Goëlo Coast and Coastal Trails walks run from April through to October or November, when the weather is most reliable for coastal walking.

Solo walkers are not accepted on any of the Brittany itineraries. Some sections of the trail are remote with limited mobile coverage, and walking alone in those conditions presents a genuine safety risk.

Yes — tides. The Brittany coast has a significant tidal range, and some sections of the coastal path are not accessible at high tide. Your walk notes will indicate where detour routes apply, but it's worth checking the tide schedule each morning before setting off so you can plan your timing accordingly.

A comfortable daypack with water, snacks, a rain jacket, sunscreen, and a basic first aid kit covers the basics. All three walks are easy-graded with flat coastal terrain, so this is a relaxed pace compared to the alpine itineraries. Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are all you need — heavy hiking boots are not necessary.

Yes, and it is a condition of booking. Your policy must cover injury, cancellation, luggage loss, and medical evacuation. Brittany is part of France, but having comprehensive cover in place before you travel is non-negotiable for all international trips.

Tipping is not obligatory in France, but rounding up the bill at a cafe or restaurant is standard practice and always appreciated. There are no fixed expectations — use your own judgement.
