Overview

Cappadocia is one of the most extraordinary walking landscapes on earth, a region of central Turkey shaped by millennia of volcanic activity into a terrain of fairy chimneys, sculpted rock formations and vast underground cities carved by ancient civilisations into the soft volcanic tufa. The geology alone makes it unlike anywhere else in the world.

The history runs equally deep. Successive civilisations cut hidden refuges and cave dwellings into the rock, preserving a record of human settlement that stretches back thousands of years. The Göreme Open-Air Museum contains some of the finest examples of Byzantine fresco painting in existence, its rock-cut churches decorated with vivid depictions of faith and history that have survived intact for over a millennium.

Where You'll Stay

Few regions in the world offer accommodation quite like Cappadocia. Family-run cave hotels, guesthouses and hotels carry you through this walk, all good quality and well away from the main tourist routes. Standard double and twin rooms are provided throughout, in locations that sit in the quieter, more remote parts of the region, where the welcome is warm, and the hospitality is the kind that this part of Turkey does particularly well.

What You'll Eat

Breakfast is included on all six mornings of the trip, and three dinners are provided in-house at your accommodation as a set menu. Dinner service runs until 20:30 or 21:00, so it is worth keeping that in mind when planning your evenings. Lunch is left open for you to discover, and the towns and villages along the route have plenty of good options to choose from.

Note: Please advise us of any food allergies or intolerances at the time of booking. If you have severe allergies, bringing some of your own snacks is recommended, as specialist ingredients can be harder to source in more remote parts of Cappadocia.
