Overview

First walked over a thousand years ago and recognised today as a UNESCO World Heritage trail, the Camino Le Puy remains one of the world's most rewarding long-distance walks. The route begins in Le Puy-en-Velay, a striking city of volcanic spires in the Auvergne, and travels 750 kilometres through some of France's most varied and beautiful landscapes before finishing in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port at the foot of the Pyrenees.

The scenery shifts at every turn. The wild, windswept Aubrac plateau gives way to the medieval stone villages of the Aveyron, the deep river valleys of the Lot and finally the vineyards and gentle hills of Gascony. Along the way, Conques, Figeac and Cahors reward walkers with Romanesque abbeys, ancient bridges and outstanding regional cuisine.

Walk the full 750 kilometres or choose a section that suits your time and ambition. Either way, this is a trail with genuine history beneath your feet and something new around every bend.
