Staff Pick
"The Great Ocean Walk is hands down Australia's best coastal walk. It has diverse habitats, virtually no crowds on the trail, and a 100% guarantee of spotting a koala. Easily one of the top ten walks in the country."
– Dan, Destination Consultant
Overview
Walk one of Australia's most celebrated coastal trails at a pace that lets you truly savour it. The Great Ocean Walk traces 104 kilometres of dramatic Southern Ocean coastline from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles, winding through the Great Otway National Park past towering sea cliffs, ancient Manna gum forests and the wild shores of the Shipwreck Coast. Koalas doze overhead within arm's reach of the track, kangaroos and echidnas appear without warning, and sea eagles patrol the clifftops above. On clear days, the Southern Ocean sparkles invitingly. On other days, the sheer force of the swell against the cliffs makes it abundantly clear why this coastline has claimed so many ships.
